Microbrewery Boho Style Mood Board

Microbrewery Boho Style Mood Board

How would you design a microbrewery? Do you even know what a microbrewery is and how would it fit into Yamba? Questions over questions. I had them too when this client asked me to create the interior design for his new project. He wants to change is café, bar, restaurant into a microbrewery, which is a great idea. Yamba has more than enough cafés so it would be good to create something new and fresh. So I started to create four mood boards with different ideas and styles.

The fourth and last mood board I called boho style and it represents a pretty clean boho style with typical brewing and modern features. It resembles a brewery in the Mediterranean world, with its clean, simple design and featured colourful tiles. Keep reading to find out more about my idea of a microbrewery boho style mood board and what a microbrewery actually is.

What is a Microbrewery?

Let’s start with the first question. What is a microbrewery? A microbrewery, also called craft brewery produces small amounts of craft beer. It is independently owned and quality, flavour and brewing technique is more important than brewing big amounts of beer. Most of the homebrew beer is also sold on the premises. You can often see the brewing tanks and everything else which comes with brewing beer in the interior of a microbrewery. It is very popular to give the interior design in a rough and industrial look with metal, glass and wood. But what are my ideas on how to create a microbrewery? Keep reading to find out more about my boho style mood board.

First Step: Brainstorming

Well I started with doing some brainstorming. What pops up in my mind when I think about a brewery? About Yamba? About surfer style? I got quite a few different ideas and keywords out of the brainstorming, so I created four different mood boards: modern, industrial, surf and boho style. It is always good to create a few different mood boards, so the client can get a few different ideas and you got a lot more to talk about. So what are actually my ideas, materials and visions for a boho style microbrewery? Keep reading to find out.

My Microbrewery Boho Style Mood Board

What is a boho style microbrewery for me? Do the topics boho and brewery even fit together? I think yes and especially in a town like Yamba. Everything is about the beach and the summer and surf of course, but that’s a different mood board. And when I think about beach and really nice, hot summer weather, I think about Italy, Spain and Portugal, the Mediterranean part of the world. And what is typical and special about their interior design? Well yes tiles, driftwood and those really colourful tiles. That just tells me: I am in a beach town!

So the design is very clean and minimalistic. You would say all the tiles make it very cool and uncomfortable, but just think about all the hot summers. Do you want a nice and cosy interior in the summer heat? I don’t, but I love cooling interior designs. So lots of tiles and some colourful feature tiles. And you combine those with some driftwood to give the interior design a rough and cosy edge.

All those materials combined create a kind of clean but unfinished look. It doesn’t look like a high-end design, but it looks comfortable, cool and cosy. It would fit perfectly into Yamba and I recon people would love a brewery designed in that style. The boho style interior design would fit perfectly to a microbrewery as well.
